YEREVAN. – The meeting of the Passenger Commission of the CIS Railway Transport Council has kicked off in Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia.

The event has brought together railway officials from Armenia, Russia, and several other CIS countries as well as from Georgia and the Baltic states.

Russian Railways company official Gennady Verkhovikh told reporters that the one of the items on the agenda for Wednesday’s meeting is the expansion of online railway ticket purchase in the post-Soviet expanse.

“We are developing new requirements for the passenger train cars and ticket sales,” Verkhovikh added.

Transport and Communication Deputy Minister Artur Arakelyan, and the leadership of the South Caucasus Railway company, which manages the railway companies of Armenia, represent the country at the aforementioned meeting.
