YEREVAN. – Emigration is having a double impact on Armenia. On the one hand, it is introducing some innovations to the country, on the other hand, the country is losing a quality workforce, ethnographer Aghasi Tadevosyan noted at a press conference on Wednesday.
As per the ethnographer, the research shows that the main reason for emigration from Armenia is unemployment, in general, and the absence of high-paying jobs, in particular.
“Since Armenia’s job market is not diversified, there is no demand here for specialists in various domains,” Tadevosyan noted. “There are people who get a higher education abroad, but upon returning [to the country], they don’t find a relevant paid work, and [therefore] a twofold emigration occurs.”
