YEREVAN. – Former FM and non-pro-government Prosperous Armenia Party National Assembly (PAP NA) Faction member Vartan Oskanian is leaving the parliament, but not the party, PAP MP Mikayel Melkumyan told reporters in the NA on Wednesday.

Melkumyan added that the 2017 parliamentary election is not in the distant future, and therefore Oskanian may be having his own objectives.

The member of parliament confirmed that the ex-FM has decided to give up his parliamentary seat, but added that this does not mean he is quitting the PAP.

“He has announced nothing about leaving the party ranks,” Melkumyan added.

In his view, in such a way, Oskanian is probably drawing the contours of his new activity.

“He probably has some decisions linked to the future, since such decisions [of leaving parliament] are not made out of the blue,” Mikayel Melkumyan stated.
