YEREVAN. – President Serzh Sargsyan has made a final decision on how the non-pro-government Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) will be after Thursday’s special congress, Haykakan Zhamanak daily reported.

“[Accordingly,] the PAP shall continue to have a buffer role between the opposition and the halls of power.

“Sargsyan has decided to keep it in the status of the second [largest] political force. But if in the past it was an around 30-percent second force, now it will become a 10-15-percent second force because the events of recent years have shown that thirty percent is an extremely large number for a buffer, and it may hold hazards of coming out of control.

“[But] one thing is apparent, the PAP will from now on be in full control of Serzh Sargsyan,” Haykakan Zhamanak wrote.
