Within the framework of the Armenian Genocide centenary commemorations, the presentation of the book by New York-based notable Herand Markarian was held in Washington D.C.

The English-language work, entitled The Martyred Armenian Writers 1915-1922: An Anthology, tells the life story and literary activities of thirteen prominent Armenian writers who were martyred in the years of the genocide.

In his remarks at the event, Armenian Ambassador to the US Tigran Sargsyan highly praised this patriotic deed, which serves the objective of making Armenian culture accessible to the foreign audience.

“Herand Markarian’s initiative is more important also for the new generation of the American-Armenian community, from the viewpoint of familiarizing [them] with the literary heritage of the Armenian people,” Ambassador Sargsyan noted.
