YEREVAN. – The Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) today is a state which puts to life the ideas of liberty and sovereignty through its Constitution, established public institutions, and free society.

NKR Minister of Foreign Affairs Karen Mirzoyan noted the above-said while speaking Friday, on the final day of the “At the Foot of Mount Ararat” international media forum being held in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan.

“For me, the modern history of Nagorno-Karabakh is a history of revival, first and foremost. Despite all the difficulties and tribulations, we were able to defend the right to liberty and choosing of [our] future,” Mirzoyan noted.

As per the FM, free, fair, and competitive elections are an integral part of Nagorno-Karabakh’s political culture.

“Ever since 1991, our republic held five presidential and five parliamentary elections, and also numerous local body elections, which have earned a high appraisal from international observers,” the NKR FM added.
