YEREVAN. – Europe will never give up Armenia. 

Economist Gagik Makaryan, who is also Chairman of the Republican Union of Employers of Armenia, told the abovementioned at a press conference on Monday. He stated this while commenting on the prospects for the country’s European integration.

In Makaryan’s words, even though the number of European Union (EU) projects had dropped somewhat in Armenia last year, this means nothing, and active ties with the EU have restored in the current year.      

As per the economist, Armenia is the only country that can try to create a positive view about Russia within the EU. In other words, it can act as a communication platform between the EU and the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union.

“Armenia [also] has a great importance as a gateway to the Middle East, and this is very important for Europe, the US, and Russia,” Gagik Makaryan said. “[And] these advantages need to be used in a smart way.”
