After the Sunday Mass at the Armenian church in Yesilkoy neighborhood of Istanbul, Turkey, prayers were offered in memory of those killed during the Battle of Gallipoli, one hundred year ago.     

For the first time in Turkey’s history, prayers were offered in an Armenian church for the Gallipoli victims, reported Haber3 website of Turkey.

Bakirkoy Mayor Bulent Kerimoglu was also present in the liturgy led by Archbishop Aram Atesyan, the General Vicar of the Armenian Patriarchate of Constantinople and, subsequently, the mayor participated in the Lenten dinner organized by the Armenian community.

During the prayer service offered for those killed in the Battle of Gallipoli, Archbishop Atesyan stated that they are praying for all Gallipoli victims: Christians, Muslims, Jews, and atheists.
