YEREVAN. – Armenia wishes to award foreign nationals for their contribution to the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide.

Ruling Republican Party of Armenia MP Artak Zakaryan, who is also Chairman of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, presented the respective amendment to the Law on State Awards and Honorary Titles.

This amendment will enable to find more number of worthy recipients abroad, to thank them for their part in genocide recognition and fight against genocide denial.

“The Mkhitar Gosh Medal is the highest [Armenian] state award in law which will be awarded to foreign nationals, since the fight against genocides is juridical, first of all,” Zakaryan noted.

The Armenian state will also award foreign nationals medals of appreciation for their social and political activities, Zakaryan added.
