YEREVAN. – The people, who had given the police false reports on the presence of an explosive device at Yerevan State University (YSU), have been found, informed the press service of the National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia.  

“It was found out that on March 19, Yerevan State University student, [capital city] Yerevan resident Aram H., who was to be expelled [from the YSU] because of unsatisfactory performance, had given a false alarm on terrorism [at the university] to resolve personal matters. 

“At his request, on March 20, Armenian State Pedagogical University [in Yerevan] student, Artik city resident Susanna M., gave two false reports on terrorism [at the YSU].

“Aram H. is detained, whereas a signature bond on not leaving was selected as restraining order for Susanna M.,” the NSS statement also specifically reads.

As reported earlier, the Operation Control Center of the Rescue Service of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Emergency Situations of Armenia received a call on March 19 at 1pm.   

Accordingly, it was informed that there was a bomb in the basement of the Faculty of Physics of Yerevan State University.

A firefighting brigade, a rescue team with a bomb squad as well as the rapid response and operative teams were dispatched to the scene, but no bomb was found.
