YEREVAN. – April 24, the Armenian Genocide anniversary, should not be politicized.

The secretary of Armenia’s opposition Heritage Party National Assembly (NA) Faction, Tevan Poghosyan, said the aforementioned at Friday’s NA briefings. He stated this while commenting on the forthcoming plans of the opposition Founding Parliament initiative.

As per Poghosyan, although the Armenian political opposition does not back up from its intentions, April 24 is above everything.

“Nothing can be launched until April 24 and on that day; that day has a special meaning for us all. [But] all that which happens after April 24 is acceptable to me,” the opposition MP said and added: “I’m not saying I agree; it’s rather acceptable and it can be discussed.”

Nonetheless, Poghosyan believes that protesting for the sake of protesting is incomprehensible and it leads to nowhere. In his view, a disagreement should be based on proposals to change the situation and a desire to implement them.

“And of course, Armenia’s domestic politics should not spread over Nagorno-Karabakh,” Heritage’s MP noted. “If these conditions are complied with, it will be possible to discuss any action.”

To note, the Founding Parliament has announced about the need to change power in Armenia before April 24. The Armenian body politic, however, is not in complete consensus with this date.
