STEPANAKERT. – The President of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR), Bako Sahakyan, on Saturday convened an enlarged working consultation on holding the 2015 parliamentary elections in the country.

Representatives of the legislative, executive and judicial authorities, and the political and public sector were invited to the talk.

In his remarks, the President qualified the May 3 National Assembly elections as a most significant process relating to the NKR state and society, informed the Central Information Department of the Office of the NKR President.

Sahakyan also gave concrete instructions to the relevant agencies toward the proper organization of the elections, stressing that everything possible must be done to hold the elections in strict correspondence with the letter and spirit of the law and to ensure a full exercise of the citizens’ right to vote.

According to Bako Sahakyan, elections in Artsakh have always been exemplary, and so shall be the forthcoming election.

The NKR President noted that although competition and debates of ideas and thoughts are expected during the election campaign, they need to be carried out in a civilized manner and in a climate of mutual respect.
