YEREVAN. – Over 100 owners of greenhouses from Armenia's regions have gathered near the government building on Monday demanding that tomato export from Turkey be banned.

The tomatoes exported from Turkey contain toxic chemicals and have the same price as those grown in the Armenian greenhouses, therefore it is difficult for farmers to sell their tomatoes, owners of greenhouses told the Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent.

“We cannot sell tomatoes, since the imported vegetables have the same price. We spend much on gas rate and fertilizers,” greenhouse owner Vagan Yeghiazaryan said.

Armenia's Agriculture Minister Sergo Karapetyan received 20 owners of greenhouses.
