YEREVAN. – The production of bread in Armenia has dropped by 1.7 percent between January and February of the current year.

According to the calculations, this reduction falls in line with the drop in the country’s population: around thirty thousand people in one year.

To note, this reduction applies solely to those residents of Armenia who always buy bread; that is, hundreds of thousands of households—primarily in rural areas—which use their own bread, are excluded from the rest.

At the same time, it is no secret that the migrant workers are largely made up of the villagers. It is also known that the temporary labor emigration can turn into a long-term absence from the homeland, and even a change in citizenship.

Given the aforesaid fact, the indicator for the reduction in Armenia’s population will exceed the abovementioned thirty thousand.
