Cyprus House of Representatives on Thursday unanimously passed the bill on criminalization of denial of the Armenian Genocide, Armenian MP in Cyprus parliament Vartkes Mahdessian told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Last week the vote on the bill was put off at the last minute. It was found out that the Cypriot MPs had reservations on this matter, and some of them wanted the bill to be passed solely with the criminalization of the Genocide denial. All political parties have jointly introduced this bill to the Cypriot parliament. The bill sets penalties for those who do not recognize the Armenian Genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity.
