The Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR; Artsakh) attracts tourists from all over the world. A tourist from Singapore spoke to Armenian News-NEWS.am, and shared his impressions from the visit. Below is an abridged version of our interview.

Victor, please tell us when and why you visited Nagorno-Karabakh.

I was in the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic in September 2014; this was my first visit to this country. For me, the most interesting place [in the NKR] is the hill of the statue of the Grandma and Grandpa [i.e. the “We Are Our Mountains” monument, which has become the symbol Nagorno-Karabakh]; this monument seems unique to me.

What are your impressions of the country and its inhabitants?

The country is quite safe in terms of the low level of crime, and the Artsakh residents are very friendly and kind. [But] for me, as a foreigner, it was difficult because the majority does not speak English.

Would you like to visit Artsakh again?

It depends on the circumstances. Now, the only means of transport [to the NKR] is the buses leaving from Yerevan [, the capital city of Armenia], and the journey is very time-consuming; about seven hours. Since I’m taking a vacation for a special touristic tour, time is very precious to me.
