YEREVAN. – China’s operation of the Great Silk Road will give great advantages to Armenia.

Ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) MP Gagik Minasyan, who is also Chairman of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs, told the aforementioned to reporters on Friday. He noted this while reflecting on the development of Armenian-Chinese and Armenian-Iranian relations.

“For a variety of reasons, the [Silk] Road passing through Armenia is most preferred for China,” Minasyan specifically noted.

In the RPA MP’s words, the road via Armenia is preferred for Iran, too, because if they give an advantage to Azerbaijan, this means that Iran is giving its potential opponent advantages which can no longer be taken back in the future.

“Iran has repeatedly stated that it wants this highway to pass through Armenia,” he added.

As per Gagik Minasyan, China’s interests overlap with Iran, and this was also specified during the Armenian President’s visit to China.

According to the MP, the multi-vector policy of Armenia should be used for the benefit of the country.

“The state, with its foreign policy, must show that the balanced relations, which we have conducted over the years, are maintained,” Gagik Minasyan concluded.
