YEREVAN. – World-renowned Russian conductor and violinist Vladimir Spivakov, who is also a great friend of the Armenian nation, arrived in Armenia on Sunday evening.

Spivakov is in the country to share the grief of the Armenian people on the centenary of the Armenian Genocide, and to remember the genocide victims with the concerts he will conduct, informed the State Youth Orchestra of Armenia.

At Zvartnots International Airport in capital city Yerevan, and in response to the reporters’ remark that not all countries in the world have recognized the Armenian Genocide, Spivakov stated: “That’s their problem. It’s not the whole world that doesn’t recognize, right? For example, the Pope recognized the Armenian Genocide. I think this is a very major story which will have far-reaching consequences. Russia has recognized [the genocide].”

From Tuesday to Thursday, the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia, conducted by Vladimir Spivakov, will give three concerts in Yerevan.
