YEREVAN. – Armenia has some challenges in further preventing violence against women, Ms Anne Brasseur, the president of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), told the press briefing on Monday at the National Assembly of Armenia.
“Armenia has made a big progress in gender equality, but violence against women still occurs in this country, as well as in others,” PACE President said.
The Council of Europe has adopted the Istanbul Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence. Unfortunately, it has not been signed nor ratified by Armenia, she added.
