The vice president of the European Parliament, Antonio Tajani, stated that, by recognizing the Armenian Genocide, they are not punishing today’s Turkey.
Tajani made a statement in connection with Wednesday’s European Parliament debate and vote on an Armenian Genocide resolution, reported Agos Armenian bilingual weekly of Istanbul.
He stressed that, with such a resolution, they are punishing the Turkey of one hundred years ago, and not today’s Turkey.
“If the same thing had happened with the Turks, we would have done the same thing for the Turks,” Antonio Tajani added.
