YEREVAN. - Armenia highly appreciates the support offered by the Council of Europe in the process of the ongoing democratic reforms implemented in the country, Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan said on Tuesday during a meeting with the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Anne Brasseur.

Serzh Sargsyan underscored the importance of cooperation between Armenia and the Council of Europe, noting that Armenia – as a member state of the Council of Europe – takes active part in the organization’s work at all levels, as reported to Armenian News – NEWS.am.

Mr. Sargsyan presented to the PACE President Anne Brasseur the process of constitutional reforms in Armenia, as well as the necessity and objective thereof. Both countries expressed hope that the Venice Commission, which positively assessed the constitutional reform concepts, will remain involved in the process.

The officials also exchanged opinions on the peaceful negotiation process of the Karabakh question. Anne Brasseur said that she is in Armenia within the framework of a regional visit and aims to learn about the country and the challenges it faces on the ground.
