German Chancellor Angela Merkel and President Joachim Gauck rejected an invitation to participate in the events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Gallipoli Battle in Turkey.
Angela Merkel said she cannot attend the events because of a busy schedule, while President of Germany preferred staying next to the Armenians to honor memory of the Armenian Genocide victims in Berlin, Zaman newspaper reported.
German Deputy Defense Minister Markus Grübel is expected to attend the events in Turkey.
