It was Turkey’s impunity that bore the fascism of Mussolini and the Nazism of Hitler. The vice president of the National Assembly of Armenia, Eduard Sharmazanov, on Friday stated the aforesaid in his address at the plenary session of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States, which is held in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
The session was devoted to the 70th anniversary of the ex-Soviet peoples’ victory in the Second World War.
“The 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide is marked in the lead-up to the 70th anniversary of the victory achieved in the Great Patriotic War.
“At first glance, the link between these two seems to be invisible and indirect. But I should note that in 1915, 1.5 million children of the Armenian nation fell victims to exactly this kind of Nazism and fascism.
“In reality, the Great Patriotic War became another test for our nation, a test of victory, when the Armenians, fighting against fascism and Nazism along with other nations, resisted the similar vice whose victim they had become in the Ottoman Empire,” Sharmazanov specifically stated.
