The president of the National Assembly of Armenia, Galust Sahakyan, on Monday attended, in Parakar village of the Armavir Province, the unveiling of a cross-stone dedicated to the centenary of the Armenian Genocide.

This day was symbolic for the Parakar residents, since numerous Armenian survivors of the Turkish yataghan had settled in this community decades ago.

The unveiled monument symbolizes the revival of the Armenian nation, and it is yet another call to the progressive mankind to recognize and condemn the Armenian Genocide perpetrated by the Ottoman Empire.

Sahakyan laid a wreath and placed flowers to the cross-stone, and he paid tribute to the 1.5 million innocent victims of this tragedy.

The parliament speaker also noted that such commemorations are held these days throughout the world, and the entire humanity stands with the Armenians on this day.
