In the run-up to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire, the Poklonnaya Gora (the highest spot of Moscow) site designed for the construction of Armenian temple has been consecrated.
Yezras Nersisyan, Primate of the Armenian Diocese of Russia said that the temple will immortalize the memory of the soldiers and victims of WWI and WWII, TASS reports.
“It will be a small building, but besides the church it can lodge a museum dedicated to the Armenians who fell victim to the world wars,” the Primate said.
The temple will be located in the Victory Park at the intersection of the Memory Alley and Alley of Young Heroes. It will cover 500 square meters and will be about 20 meters high. The construction will be concluded within a year.
