YEREVAN. – Argentina’s new Ambassador to Armenia, Gonzalo Urriolabeitia, on Tuesday presented his credentials to President Serzh Sargsyan.

The President congratulated the newly appointed ambassador on assuming this office, and wished him success in carrying out his diplomatic mission in Armenia.

Sargsyan, noting that Urriolabeitia has arrived in Armenia at a very important time for the Armenian nation, when the Armenians across the world, together with the international community, is going to commemorate the centenary of the Armenian Genocide, stressed that Argentina has greatly contributed to the international recognition of this crime. The President also thanked the people and authorities of this country for providing refuge to numerous Armenians who had escaped the genocide, which the Ottoman Empire had perpetrated at the turn of the 20th century, and for enabling these Armenians to take part in the development of Argentina.

At the ensuing talk, the interlocutors discussed the avenues for the continuous development of Armenia-Argentina relations, and the enhancement of cooperation in various mutually beneficial domains.

Ambassador Urriolabeitia, for his part, considered it a great honor for him to represent Argentina in Armenia, and assured that he will do his utmost to further invigorate bilateral political relations, and contribute to making Armenian-Argentine collaboration grow deeper.
