Austarlia doesn’t recognize the Armenian Genocide, since the Turkish lobby in the country is very powerful, New Wales state MP Amanda Ruth Fazio told Armenian News – NEWS.am. According to her, Australia has large Turkish community, whose influence on the country’s government is rather powerful.
“I’m proud of the fact that the parliament of the state of New Wales has recognized the Armenian Genocide. In the parliament we annually conduct a lecture in memory of the Armenian Genocide victims. There is a monument dedicated to the Genocide victims in the Parliament Park. Thus, the parliament of the state of New Wales did great amount of work,” Amanda Fazio said.
According to her, Armenians spread all over the world do a great amount of work in the area of achieving the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
