YEREVAN. – The deal to sell the Vorotan Hydro Cascade of the Republic of Armenia (RA) to the American ContourGlobal company does not come to an end in any way, Haykakan Zhamanak daily reported.

“The RA Government yesterday [i.e. Wednesday] again made changes in the sales contract of the cascade.

“The contract was signed more than a year ago, back in January 2014, pursuant to which the American company has to pay 250 million [US] dollars.

“This was the first time that an Armenian energy facility is sold to a non-Russian company. Perhaps this is the reason why the deal is constantly delayed.

“The change, which was made yesterday in the contract, is technical. But the sales deal has not yet been made even after that, and the Vorotan Cascade remains the property of the RA.

“It is noteworthy that the 250 million dollars, which are offered for the cascade, are the highest price that has ever been offered in Armenia’s history for any state-owned facility,” Haykakan Zhamanak wrote.
