It was decided, during Friday’s plenary session of the German Bundestag (Parliament), that the next phase in the parliamentary debates on the Armenian Genocide will be held on April 30.

Friday’s session agenda issue was entitled, “The 1915-1916 mass killings and deportations of the Armenians.”

Representatives from all Bundestag factions delivered remarks at the more-than-an-hour-long deliberations, and all speakers used the term “genocide” to describe what had occurred to Armenians in those years.

To note, the term “genocide” is used only in passing and it is not on the title of the respective resolution by the ruling coalition, whereas genocide recognition and condemnation is in the forefront of the resolution by the Bundestag minority.
