YEREVAN. – The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Edward Nalbandian, issued a statement in connection with Russian State Duma’s adoption of a statement on the occasion of the centenary of the Armenian Genocide.

“We thank Russia for its impartial and consistent position with respect to the Armenian Genocide, one of the most terrible tragedies in human history.

“The State Duma’s adoption of a new statement in connection with the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide is a message of solidarity with the Armenian people and a telling testimony to the fact that the Armenian Genocide was a crime aimed against not solely the Armenian people, but all mankind, and its recognition and condemnation is a primary task of the international community.

“[But] as a consequence of the [Armenian Genocide-]denialist posture [of Turkey], the abyss between Turkey and the civilized world is growing deeper,” Nalbandian specifically noted in his statement.
