YEREVAN. – The President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, on Saturday received representatives from the Democrat Youth Community of Europe (DEMYC).

The DEMYC is the international umbrella organization of the youth wings of Christian Democratic, Conservative, and like-minded parties of Europe.

First, the President welcomed the about fifty young people from sixteen countries, and who are in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan to participate in the meeting of the DEMYC Council, which has adopted a resolution condemning the Armenian Genocide.

At the ensuing talk, DEMYC President Javier Hurtado Mira handed this resolution to the President.

Sargsyan stressed that it is very important for him to be in constant touch with the youth circles because this is a good opportunity to get acquainted with the new generation of leaders.

The Armenian President, however, noted with regret that the recent world events show that the peril of genocides and other crimes against humanity still exists, and therefore the fight against this danger is still urgent today.

The DEMYC-member youth, for their part, assured President Serzh Sargsyan that they, too, stand with the Armenian people in this fight, and their respective support is very honest and sincere.

Serzh Sargsyan also responded to the DEMYC representatives’ numerous queries relating to a variety of topics.
