YEREVAN. – Armenia, as a full member in the Russian Federation (RF)-led Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), may interfere with the Turks’ joining the EEU, 168 Zham daily reported.

‘“But I don’t think that Armenia would want [to prevent Turkey]. It’s no coincidence that I stress that the matter of Turkey’s special relations with each EEU member country [i.e. Armenia, Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan] will be observed.

‘“I believe that we will have a normalization of Armenia-Turkey relations and opening of the Armenian-Turkish border in the next one and a half, a maximum of two years.

‘“Once Turkey remained alone against the backdrop of the Armenian Genocide 100th anniversary events, Turkey will not be able to withstand such a regime of pressures, hence it will attempt to seek ways for cooperation with Armenia,’ Russian analyst Stanislav Tarasov noted speaking with our correspondent.

“In his conviction, the Armenian-Turkish border is no longer a local border, but an EEU-Turkey border, and the RF is interested in the normalization of relations of EEU member Armenia and Turkey,” 168 Zham wrote.
