YEREVAN. – The opportunity for returning to Armenia has been extended by one year for those male citizens of the country who have not served in the Armenian army and who currently live abroad.
The National Assembly on Tuesday passed, by a vote of 107 for, 4 against and 1 abstention, the relevant draft amendments to the respective law.
The current amendment proposes to extend the validity of the respective law until the end of the 2014 military draft.
Accordingly, those male Armenian citizens living abroad and who have not served in the army and who are over 27 years old, may return to Armenia by paying 200,000 drams (approx. $425) for each missed military draft.
