YEREVAN. – The Armenian-made rebar is able to compete with the foreign rebar in the domestic market.

ASCE Group steel casting company director Grigor Saribekyan stated the aforementioned to Armenian News-NEWS.am, and during the “Made in Armenia” fair that was held in capital city Yerevan.

The company manages the rebar plant which opened in 2013 in Charentsavan city.

“The company works only for the domestic market. There are two rebar plants in neighboring Georgia, but due to the transportation costs, it’s not profitable to transport from far away a large item such as the rebar,” Saribekyan said. “That’s why the Armenian rebar competes with the imported [rebar] in the domestic market.”    

ASCE Group operates with finished products.

“But with the small local consumption market, the growth of production is limited,” Grigor Saribekyan added.
