The Turkish press is now infuriated by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev’s letter of condolences extended to his Armenian counterpart Hovik Abrahamyan, and in connection with the centenary of the Armenian Genocide.

Medvedev, in his message, extended his condolences to the Armenian people, and condemned the genocide against the Armenians.

Hurriyet daily wrote that after Russian President Vladimir Putin, now Russian PM Medvedev said “genocide.”

Radikal daily noted that even though the Turkish MFA had severely reacted after Putin’s pronouncing the word “genocide,” the Russian PM likewise said “genocide.”

Pro-government Sabah daily wrote about Medvedev’s message, and cited these words: “These days we pay tribute in memory of the victims of one of history’s most tragic events: the genocide of the Armenians.”

Hizli Haber website headlined this news as follows: “The Russians loved ‘genocide;’ Medvedev also said ‘genocide.’”

Haberola website ran the news on Medvedev’s message by poking fun at the Turkish authorities. “Our successful policy, which works miracles in foreign policy, continues. Putin said ‘genocide,’ [and] we became very angry; so angry that here’s the result: Medvedev also said ‘genocide,’” this Turkish website wrote.
