ALEPPO. – Not solely the Armenian Cathedral of the Holy Forty Martyrs, but the other Armenian buildings of the Armenian-populated Old Aleppo district of Aleppo, Syria, were affected by the shelling on April 26.

Armenian News-NEWS.am learned the aforesaid from the press service of the Prelacy of Aleppo of the Armenian Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia of the Armenian Apostolic Church.

They also informed that, fortunately, there are no casualties because the Armenian families living in the area had moved.

“The material damage, however, is quite a lot. The two Armenian churches of [the predominately Armenian-populated region of] Kessab [in northwestern Syria] also were shelled on the very same day,” the Prelacy of Aleppo noted. “And all Armenian constructions, including the college, the cultural center, were affected from the shelling of the Old Aleppo district.”

As reported earlier, on April 26, militants shelled the Armenian Cathedral of the Holy Forty Martyrs in Aleppo, Syria. As a result, the 15th century place of Christian worship was almost completely destroyed.
