The text of the Armenian Genocide draft resolution of the German Bundestag (Parliament) has been forwarded to its committees for further deliberations.

The text of this document needs to pass through the committees and submitted for Bundestag approval in the form of a resolution, informed the official website of the German parliament.

The Bundestag must approve this resolution before the summer vacation.

As reported earlier, the German parliament’s April 24 session agenda issue was entitled, “The 1915-1916 mass killings and deportations of the Armenians.”

Representatives from all Bundestag factions delivered remarks at the more-than-an-hour-long deliberations, and all speakers used the term “genocide” to describe what had occurred to Armenians in those years.

To note, the term “genocide” is used only in passing and it is not on the title of the respective resolution by the ruling coalition, whereas genocide recognition and condemnation is in the forefront of the resolution by the Bundestag minority.
