YEREVAN. – The Saint Anna Church in Downtown Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia, is ready for service after four years of construction.

The Catholicos of All Armenians, Karekin II, on Thursday consecrated this new place of Christian worship.

The monastic complex is composed of three parts: the Saint Anna Church, the Holy Mother of God Chapel, and the Yerevan residence of the Catholicos.

The church was built with the means provided by American Armenian philanthropist Hirair Hovnanian, and it is named after his wife, Anna.

The consecration ceremony brought together President Serzh Sargsyan, First Lady Rita Sargsyan, Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan, Mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryan, and numerous cultural celebrities.
