YEREVAN. – Serviceman Martiros Kocharyan, who was injured as a result of a military truck—carrying soldiers—falling into a canyon in Armenia’s Lori Province on April 17, has been transferred from the intensive care unit to the surgery department.  

The director of the Ministry of Defense Central Clinical Military Hospital in capital city Yerevan, Aram Asaturyan, told the aforementioned to Armenian News-NEWS.am. He added that the soldier is in satisfactory condition, and he will undergo surgery in a month.

The other soldier, Mher, who was severely injured in the accident, has finally been able to undergo surgery. Even though he is still in critical condition, there is a positive trend in his health.

Asaturyan noted that none of the injured soldiers have yet been discharged from the hospital, but they are in better condition, and some of them may be discharged next week.

As reported earlier, the aforesaid military truck had rolled over at the Spitak city bends and fallen into a canyon. The driver of the truck, conscript Artyom Tovmasyan (born in 1995), had died as a result of the injuries he had sustained in the accident. Nine other soldiers were injured in the incident, and they have been transported from the Spitak hospital to the Armenian Ministry of Defense Central Clinical Military Hospital in capital city Yerevan.

A criminal case was opened in connection with this accident.
