YEREVAN. – Germany wishes to return to world politics by making statements about the Armenian Genocide, political scientist Levon Shirinyan stated at a press conference on Friday.

He said this commenting on German President Joachim Gauck’s recent statement on the occasion of the Armenian Genocide Centennial.

“The objective of the statement is to justify his state after the Nuremberg [trials’] process, and show that Berlin has the moral right to strengthen its economic power with the political front.

“In addition, Germany thus shows that it assumes accountability for the Armenian Genocide, as its participant and ally of Ottoman Turkey.

“And finally, this statement was addressed to Germany’s Turkish community, which worries the Germans as a vivid example of the failure of multiculturalism,” Shirinyan stressed.
