YEREVAN. – The Confederation of Trade Unions of Armenia (CTUA) on Friday held a march in capital city Yerevan, and on the occasion of the May 1 International Workers’ Day.

“Today, unemployment has increased in Armenia, and the Confederation of Trade Unions of Armenia voices about this, and demands that the authorities of Armenia pay attention to this problem,” CTUA Chairman Eduard Tumasyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am. “It is important that everyone is ensured decent work.”

Tumasyan stressed that it is also important that the workers’ interests are protected by the Armenian state.

The participants in the march told us that today’s action is primarily a demand, wherewith they once again remind the Armenian halls of power that there is poverty, unemployment, low wages, and improper working conditions in the country.

The participants in the march also held signs with respective messages.
