STEPANAKERT. – International recognition of Nagorno-Karabakh is only a matter of time, Fresno County Supervisor Andreas Borgeas told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
Mr. Borgeas is in Nagorno-Karabakh as an observer for parliamentary elections planned for Sunday.
Fresno County Supervisor believes every legitimate country can make hear itself by means of institutions.
“Karabakh has tremendous stride in developing institutions and promoting a very transparent democratic process. I think this is an exciting experience not only for those inside Karabakh, but those outside it,” he said.
According to Andreas Borgeas, democracy is flourishing in Karabakh, and we are here to see whether it is going on well and whether the democracy is moving over and the election is expression of sovereignty.
Speaking about recognition of Karabakh, Borgeas said he was supporting a resolution for Fresno County to recognize independence of Nagorno-Karabakh. He recalled that California recognized Karabakh, adding that individual states in America are moving forward on the matter.
“We are approaching national leaders to take very seriously the recognition process for Nagorno-Karabakh. We know that there is difficulty, but we believe it is only a matter of time before more countries begin to recognize Karabakh,” he emphasized.
