Thousands of Montreal citizens marched through downtown Montreal on Sunday to mark the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

According to the organizers, around 10,000 people were participating in the march. The participants commemorated Armenians, as well as Rwandans, Jews and other victims of genocide, Montreal Gazette reported.

Among the participants were Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre, Federal Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau, many other MNAs, Harout Chitilian, vice-president of the city’s executive committee, and a descendant of Armenian genocide survivors, as well as Armenian Diaspora Minister Hranush Hakobyan.

The protester were carrying posters with forget-me-nots and Armenian flags.
