YEREVAN. – Armenian National Assembly former deputy Hakob Hakobyan, who was arrested on charges of tax noncompliance and conducting illegal business, was released on late Monday night, Hakobyan’s attorney Karen Sardaryan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

He noted that they had submitted a petition to the investigative agency so that Hakobyan’s restraining order of arrest be commuted to a signature bond on not leaving capital city Yerevan, and this petition was approved.

To the query on why Hakob Hakobyan was taken to hospital after his release, the attorney responded that the ex-MP wanted to immediately go to hospital, since he needs immediate surgery.

On February 4, the court had ruled that Hakobyan be put under arrest based on the aforementioned charges.
