YEREVAN. - Armenia’s parliamentary opposition is actually interfering with the patriotism of those working far away from their homeland, RPA faction MP Vardan Ayvazyan stated in the Parliament.

The draft bill stipulates that the Armenian citizens working abroad in an Armenian organization have the right to pay the income tax in Armenia’s budget. This provision can be exercised with countries which have signed a double tax avoidance agreement with Armenia. Nevertheless, Armenia has such agreements with practically all chief economic partners.

Such agreements provide that in case of difference between Armenian and foreign tax, the foreign tax must bе paid. Mainly for this reason the new tax rate has been determined to be 13 per cent, an amount equal to Russian natural persons’ income tax, Ayvazyan said.

“We say: Let an Armenian working abroad expressing patriotic approach and pay tax in the Armenian budget. And you say no! Let him not do that! And than you’re speaking about patriotism. Where is your patriotism?” Ayvazyan said.
