BAKU. - Azerbaijani media circulate ‘horrible’ blackmail material on Rashad Mammadov, the dismissed owner of the oligarchic company Azİmport and ex-director of National Flag Square Complex under the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan.

“As it turned out, Rashad Mammadov’s mother is Armenian by descent. This means that the man actually guarding Azerbaijan’s state symbol is half-Armenian. Azerbaijan is in a state of war with the Armenians worldwide and the Republic of Armenia.  The reason of the conflict is its ethnic character. Of course, if Rashad Mammedov held another office in the state hierarchy, that fact wouldn’t spark such a stunning reaction in the public opinion as did the presence of that person in the post of head of the National Flag Square Complex. Besides, [Azerbaijan’s] President dismissed R. Mamadov not because of his mother’s Armenian descent, but because he had lost the faith of the head of the state, as well as the political leadership of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani website haqqin.az writes.

“Rashad Mammadov’s mother, Martirosova Asia Stepanovna, was born in Baku. Besides subjecting half of Azerbiajan to tractors and bulldozers and throwing away the residents from their apartments and offices without proper compensation, Mammedov also committed another crime:  He forged his mother’s documents, turning her from Armenian into Azeri. And one should be held liable for these kinds of crimes and falsifications to the full effect of the law! The problem is not that Mammadov’s mother was Armenian, but that he has forged his mother’s documents. A man should be proud of his roots and not be ashamed of them. Mammadov has been reproached for this very fact: He is ashamed and hides his Armenian roots!” the source ‘clarifies.’
