YEREVAN. – Parliamentary elections in the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic differed in terms of competitiveness with five out of seven political parties being elected to the National Assembly, secretary of Heritage faction Tevan Poghosytan said.

The elections were open, legitimate and transparent, and Armenia has much to learn from Karabakh, he said.

“Elections in Nagorno Karabakh have always been held in condition of ceasefire, because today we live in a state of war,” Tevan Poghosyan said.

The MP said it is important to realize that any government in Nagorno-Karabakh could, according to the law on the military situation, give up the election.

“However, Nagorno-Karabakh has chosen the path of democratic state,” Poghosyan added.

Azerbaijan, as usua,l tried to do everything to prevent the holding of elections, but the provocations failed, and the Defense Army of Nagorno-Karabakh did everything to let people vote peacefully, Poghosayn saod. .

The elections were followed by 110 observers from 25 countries.
