Man wanted by Armenian police was detained in Russia’s Novokuznetsk after 20 years.
Georgiy Safaryan is charged with aggravated murder. In 1994 Safaryan, together with his friends learned that Hayk Abrahamyan returned from Iran with a large amount and plans to establish an asphalt plant in Armenia.
They entered the house of Abrahamyan, drugged and strangled the victim. However, the criminals did not find large amount and stole jewelry. Two criminals were captured a few days later, while the third was discovered and convicted in 1997.
Armenian law enforcement agencies are working on extradition of Georgiy Safaryan.
