YEREVAN. – Armenia's Education Minister Armen Ashotyan delivered a report during the discussion on prospects of higher education and the Bologna process.

Minister Ashotyan noted important role of the higher education in the development of democracy.

“The application of democratic principles in higher education will contribute to the resolution of conflicts and help to find compromises and to achive so that majority could take into account the rights and views of the minorities. Education is a fundamental approach to the development of a democratic culture. Democracy is like learning a new language, if you do not use it for a long time, then you forget it over time,” Ashotyan said.

Referring to the prospects and challenges of the Bologna process, the Minister highlighted issues related to the mobility of students, education focusing on students, academic freedom of universities, enhancing the role of universities and higher education targeted at the labor market.
