YEREVAN. – This year's Night of Museums in Armenia is dedicated to the centenary of the Armenian Genocide, Deputy Culture Minister Arev Samuelyan told reporters on Saturday.
The theme of this year's program is “Museums – Witnesses of Memory”.
Overall, 111 museums in Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh will join the campaign on May 16.
Arev Samuelyan also said that this year the program has a special application Firechat which can be downloaded to the phone systems iOS and Android.
“The application has been running for three days. It was provided by the Ministry of Culture of Russia, and gives visitors an opportunity to share experiences of museums and at the same time find out what is happening in other museums,” she said.
The Night of Museums action is held on the initiative of France's Culture Ministry and with the support of UNESCO. Armenia first joined the action in 2005.
